Nishijima Katsuyuki street waterfront Woodblock Print 101/500 woodblock print, paper, not framed, from a gallerie in Japan: Hanga Gallery, with certificate Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in Yamaguchi prefecture. He studied woodblock printmaking at the studio of the publisher Mikumo in Kyoto from 1964 to 1968. He worked briefly in stencil printing for cloth dyeing during 1969 - 72. Nishijima has been very successful with subjects of old traditional Japanese rural houses and landscape in and around Kyoto. His style is somewhat reminiscent to that of Clifton Karhu. But his sensitivity to the colors and forms; and the selection of subject matters are uniquely his own. Nishijima's major woodblock prints series are 'Sixty-Nine Stations of the Kiso Kaido' and 'Kyoto Street Scenes'." This is an original Nishijima Woodblock Print, in new condition.
